MACE-analysis of the rose leaf response to black spot and powdery mildew

To compare the response of the leaf transcriptome of roses during a compatible interaction with the hemibiotrophic black spot Diplocarpon rosae and the obligate biotrophic powdery mildew fungus Podosphaera pannosa transcriptomic data were generated by means of the MACE technique. Three independent inoculation experiments (BR1, BR2, BR3) were performed to generate data for the interaction of the susceptible rose variety “Pariser Charme” with the D. rosae single spore isolate DortE4 and a multispore isolate of powdery mildew originating from infected “Pariser Charme” grown in the greenhouses. Inoculated leaves were used as control samples. Samples were taken at three different time points (0, 24, 72 hpi). Library preparation and application of the MACE procedure was performed by GenXPro (Frankfurt, Germany).
