BioProject: PRJNA418169
Study Type:
Whole Genome Sequencing
Abstract: The “cucubano”, Ignelater luminosus (formerly Pyrophorus luminosus), is a Puerto Rican bioluminescent click beetle from a related family (Elateridae) to fireflies, which uses a luciferase homologous to firefly luciferase and an identical luciferin, and thus represents a possible case of parallel evolution of a firefly-luciferin utilizing bioluminescent system. Here we report the Supernova assembled draft genome sequence for I. luminosus. We also provide RNA-Seq data from the "head" (prothorax + head), thorax, and abdomen.
